About Abergavenny Film Society

Background

Abergavenny Film Society is Wales' longest running film society, started by a group of friends in 1978. From the outset, the Society has shown programmes of films carefully chosen from what they consider the best available from around the world. Our 2022-2023 season, starting on 21st September 2022, is no exception.

Film notes will be available online and on the door. Members are encouraged to comment on and rate the film they have seen via email. We use audience reactions to help us when choosing films.

Film screenings

The society is up to date with technology and we use a Christie 9000 Lumens laser projector. This, together with high quality sound and a venue with comfortable banked seating, ensures that screenings are of a high standard.

Location and ticket details

Our venue is the Melville Centre, Pen-y-pound, Abergavenny NP7 5UD and screenings take place fortnightly on Wednesdays from September to March.

Click on 'Programme' above for full details of this season's films.

For our 2022-2023 season, screenings will take place at 4.30pm and 7.30pm and the doors will open for the first screening at 4pm.

All members will be guaranteed a seat if they arrive before 4.20pm or 7.20pm.

A limited number of tickets will be available on the door for non-members aged 18+ at £5 per person (cash only).

Age restrictions

Membership of the Society is open to people aged 16+.
